Forest Dream
Inspiration
This ring was originally created as a preparation piece for a future project. What began as a study model evolved into a captivating object in its own right, wearable as a ring, yet above all a miniature work of art.
Description and Materials
The ring is crafted from mokume-gane (999 silver/copper). This technique creates a beautiful, wood-like texture that forms the branches of the tree. The upper part of the scene consists of mokume-gane combined with green enamel, forming the base of the forest landscape. The underside is made of fine silver and features enameled leaves, all supported by the tree’s branches.
To draw the eye, the squirrel is made of 14k rose gold. The gemstones are set in yellow gold, with one exception: the mushroom cap holding the yellow sapphire is made of silver. The mushroom stem, the leaves surrounding the tourmaline, the enameled leaf, and the pearl leaves are all crafted from 14k gold. The remaining leaves are made of copper and heat-treated to achieve a warm reddish‑brown tone.
Gemstones
Pink tourmaline with subtle green hues (1.18 ct), Yellow rose-cut sapphire, Brown star sapphire (4 mm), Brown diamonds (0.12 ct); the squirrel’s eyes are also brown diamonds (0.003 ct), Freshwater pearl.
Note
Over time, the silver and copper will naturally oxidize, deepening into earthy tones that enhance the forest atmosphere. The gold elements will retain their color, creating a striking contrast with the evolving patina of the silver and copper.
